European Center for Law and Economics

The European Center for Law and Economics is a center for excellence where the work and activities of both disciplines meet, within a comparative European and global perspective.

There is a growing awareness of the interaction between judicial systems on one hand, and a company’s performance within their legal regulation systems. Judicial risk and the overall legal environment culture are considerations that are increasingly strategic at the highest level of decision-making in companies; the legal management team is frequently part of the company’s strategy committee.

Although economics and law have long coexisted, an integrated approach to the two fields will become standard in the future, as the daily issues faced by corporations make it clear. This results in a significant number of opportunities for economics and business administration graduates within the legal professions. There are new winning strategies to be found at the crossroads of the two disciplines, which is where ESSEC’s European Center for Law and Economics aims its teaching and research, continuing ESSEC’s tradition of excellence. The Center will be rooted in corporate reality and work in tandem with companies. It develops its analytical watch activities in order to anticipate changes in the judicial and economic environment.

ESSEC’s CEDE is a RESEARCH CENTER 

The CEDE carries out research on subjects that are linked to the interdisciplinary and comparative economics/law approach, such as: Competition – Regulation ; corporate governance & corporate social responsibility; globalization and international economic and legal environments; intellectual and industrial property law; .lobbying and institutions, trade,gender issues,

 The Center benefits from the various former research works conducted by ESSEC Professors and experts in different fields.

ESSEC’s CEDE is a center for HIGH VALUE ADDED EXCHANGES BETWEEN ACADEMICS AND PROFESSIONALS

Apart from classical publications and research documents, those produced by ESSEC’s European Center for Law and Economics are intended for distribution at conferences and seminars that specifically confront state-of-the-art research with the needs of professionals. 

ESSEC’s European Center for Law and Economics develops interactions and partnerships with various institutions, with the goal of establishing an original offer with a genuine crosscutting economics-law dimension.
